At Davis Architects, we design high-quality Residential and Commercial architecture shaped by place, purpose and people. Working across Sydney and Byron Bay, our multi-award-winning practice approaches each project as a unique opportunity — responding carefully to context, climate and our clients’ individual aspirations. With a preference for natural, sustainably sourced materials such as timber, stone and glass, we create refined, light-filled spaces that support contemporary living with a sense of calm, balance and longevity. From concept design through to project completion, we guide our clients through every stage of the process with clarity and care.

Grounded in a strong background in construction and project management, our design practice is both creative and highly practical. We continually test ideas to deliver buildings that are thoughtful, efficient and enduring—balancing design ambition with buildability, cost effectiveness and innovation.

Deeply connected to the Australian East Coast, we draw on an intuitive understanding of climate, landscape and lifestyle to inform each design. We believe architecture should contribute positively to its environment, seeking to regenerate rather than diminish. Our projects are carefully integrated with their surroundings, creating architecture that feels grounded, responsive and inherently of its place.

Ed Davis

Principal Architect Ed Davis brings more than 20 years’ experience to his work, with extensive knowledge of local Councils and strong relationships across the building industry. An excellent listener and communicator, Ed works closely with clients to balance his own design vision with their individual style, creating considered, elegant buildings designed to stand the test of time.

He sees every project as a genuine collaboration between client, architect and builder, with little room for ego. Relaxed yet professional, creative yet practical, Ed’s considered approach has proved invaluable throughout the complex process of bringing a project to life.

After establishing Davis Architects in 2005, Ed relocated from Sydney to Byron Bay to embrace the North Coast lifestyle. Away from the studio, he enjoys time with his family, a round of golf, cycling through the Byron Bay hinterland and surfing at Wategos.

Catherine Gulusian

Graduate Architect

Originally from Brazil, Catherine completed her Masters degree in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Fine Arts University Centre of São Paulo in 2017 before moving to Australia in search of new experiences. Now proudly calling Australia home, her design approach is influenced by Brazilian Modernism, with its emphasis on simplicity, innovation and thoughtful use of form. Catherine particularly enjoys exploring 3D visualisation as a way of communicating architectural ideas and concepts.

Outside the studio, she enjoys learning new things, playing guitar and spending time at the beach, whether walking, reading or learning to surf.

Ann-Louise Davis

Marketing Manager & Photographer

As Photographer and Marketing Manager at Davis Architects, Ann-Louise brings a strong background in visual communication, photography and creative marketing to the practice. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts with Honours from QUT and a Postgraduate Certificate in Creative Advertising.

At Davis Architects, Ann-Louise combines her creative and communications experience to shape the practice’s visual identity and capture the architecture through photography. Outside the studio, she enjoys time with her family, gardening, jogging and making the most of life outdoors.
